Frequently Ask Questions 

Welcome to the Pikku Pottery FAQ! Here, you'll find answers to your questions about our products and services. If you need more help, just reach out!

Q: Do I need to bring anything with me to the classes? 

A: All tools, equipment, and clay will be provided.

 

Q: do I need to bring an apron?

A: There are aprons that will be provided, but feel free to bring your own

Q: Will I get messy? 

A: Creating pottery can get really messy, but the clay will wash out of your clothes. I would advise wearing some clothes you don't mind getting messy. 

Q: How long are the evening classes?

A: The evening classes are two and a half hours long, this allows for 15 mins to get set up at the start of the class and 15 mins to clean tools and equipment at the end.  

A: The weekend experience days are four and a half hours long, with a coffee break in the middle. 

 

Q: do I need any pottery experience to come to a class? 

A: No, the weekend experience day are designed for total beginners. The evening classes are for all levels too.

Q: What do I learn during an weekend experience class?

A: During the workshops you will get to learn the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel through three engaging challenges. Each technique is demonstrated to enhance your comprehension, then you'll get personalised guidance to help you achieve your goals.

 

Q: ​Who can attend the introductory level wheel-thrown pottery workshops?

A: Our intro workshops are designed for absolute beginners and for those who have up to six months experience of throwing on the potter’s wheel. Participants must be 18+ years of age but children who are 14+ may also attend alongside an adult family member.

Q: When can I collect my work?

A: Your creation may take up to 5 days to dry out completely. Then it is bisque fired, glazed and finally glaze fired. The entire process can take anywhere between 4-5 weeks. 

Q: Are there any health and safety risks in the studio? What is your policy?

A: All students are inducted in the safe use of the studio, however certain processes, sharp tools, machinery and raw materials can cause injury or harm if misused or not used with care. Your safety is our priority, and all students will receive training on facility use. Keep long hair secured and remove jewelry to reduce risks. Food and drinks are prohibited in the studio, our facilitator is here to assist you.

 

Q: Can I reschedule a regular class?

A: Yes, you can reschedule your class up to 72 hours prior to your session. Head to the “Reschedule” page of our website or download the free Wix App called Spaces on your mobile phone.

Q:Do you offer kids workshops?

A: Yes, we can arrange a private workshop for children 12+ years of age. At least one parent per two children needs to be present or participate in the session.

 

Q:How long do you keep my work?

A: Any work you create during the regular classes will be kept for 60 days while pieces made during the weekend workshops will be kept for up to 9 weeks from the date of your session. We do not take responsibility for any work that may be lost due to not being collected within the above time frames.
